Choose A Platform And Blog, Blog, Blog
Search engines also love fresh content, and blogs, by definition, are constant sources of new content. If written correctly â?? or more specifically interestingly â?? blogs can also provide wider link bait and garner links from outside the blogosphere. Search engines, of course, reward for good, inbound links regardless of whether theyâ??re from other blogs. […]

Sculpting your PageRank for Maxiumum SEO Impact
If you are a large online retailer, you’re looking at thousands upon thousands of pages that have the opportunity to get crawled and indexed in the SERPs (search engine results pages). You’re also looking at near infinite choices for how you interlink all those pages. Out of all those permutations, there is one configuration that is the most optimal from an SEO perspective. That’s because it maximizes the flow of link juice (e.g., PageRank if you’re speaking purely in Google terms) to your most important pages and minimizes (or cuts off completely) the flow of link juice to your least important pages. The most important pages are the ones that have the most potential to rank highly for the targeted keyword themes, to compel the searcher to click, and to drive that visitor toward a “conversion event” such as completing a purchase of one or more high-margin products.

Critiquers Amy Africa, president of Helena, VT-based Web consultancy Eight by Eight, and Stephan Spencer, founder/president of Madison, WI-based SEO agency Netconcepts, gave a thorough review of the PTS site, with Africa examining the site’s content and functionality, and Spencer testing its search capability. Baiting The Social Media Crowd
“One great avenue for link bait is social media â?? sites like MySpace, YouTube, Digg and Facebook allow users to share and promote content and opinions, almost always for free. Social media sites (sometimes referred to as Web 2.0 sites since most are based on Web 2.0 technologies) are quickly becoming primary promotional vehicles, and the very core of that promotion is link bait,” writes Jeff Muendel, Search Analyst for Netconcepts in this compelling article about the power of social media to attract links to your retail site.

SEO: Heads or (Long) Tails?
“Search engine optimizing for the “Long Tail” is fundamentally different from optimizing for the head. Therefore, itâ??s important to initially point out that the strategies and tactics for â??Long Tailâ?? SEO are more automated and extensible than for traditional SEO,” writes Stephan Spencer, President and Founder of Netconcepts. In this article about the “head” vs the “long tail,” Stephan writes about how you can capture the “long tail” to help your site.
Using Images for Local SEO
“Google’s recent deployment of Universal Search resulted in the inclusion of content drawn in from their other search verticals into the main web search results. As this integration trend continues, and as Google further expands upon the 200+ signals they use for ranking, it becomes increasingly important to diversify a site’s presence on the web, and to work on ranking well in each of the various areas of vertical search,” writes Chris Smith in his “Locals Only” column.
