Senior MySQL Database Administrator/System Administrator
Description:
Netconcepts is ‘the market leader’ when it comes to Search Optimization technologies. All of these technologies are based on Open Source Systems.
We need someone to pick up from where our departing Senior DBA/System Administrator has left off. Our aspirations are HUGE so you will need to be able to get in and contribute BIG things from word ‘GO!’.
You will need to be passionate about Open Source Technologies such as MySQL, PHP, Linux & Apache. Your background might be something like …
- A tech savvy MySQL DBA or System Admin with in excess of 6 years commercial Open Source system administration.
Posses a deep understanding of the following technologies:
- MySQL - performance tuning, replication, clustering, data warehousing and general adminstration
- Linux OS - particularly Debian & Red Hat
- Apache 1.3/Apache SSL 1.3, Apache 2
- PHP configuration, tuning and administration
- Subversion - administration, training, trouble shooting
- DNS - management
- Firewall/IP table configuration and administration
- Open Source Security management in general
Have demonstrable experience with:
- Exim 3/4 Mail administration and SPAM Assassin
- Postfix Mail administration
- Python/Perl/Shell scripting
- Samba administration
- Urchin administration & set up
- SSL - purchase, set up, key generation, etc
- Network management (DHCP/VPN)
Your Experience will look something like:
- Proven Trouble shooting and resolution of remote Mission Critical systems
- Minimum 6 years of Open Source System Admin experience of *nix Environments
- Possess a Technical oriented degree
- Management of medium to large Networks both remote and local
- Be extremely disciplined and methodical
- Have an aptitude for Problem solving and pattern recognition
Working alongside other members of the Implementation team and with the Senior GStream Lead, the ideal candidate will be capable of solving complex problems and display a certain tenacity when faced with unusual challenges.
Responsibilities include:
- Development and Implementation and Monitoring of Internal systems
- Maintenance and Extension of existing solutions
- Contribution & collaboration with the wider team on problem resolution
- Participation in 24/7 system support
- Management of System Admin team - currently 1 other with plans to grow in future
- Contribution to Corporate technical strategy
Reporting directly to the GravityStream Technical Director, this is a key position to help guide, direct and influence how the organisation as a whole can improve its technical executions!
